Catania – Sicily

A recent assignment for the New York Times took me to the very colourful and vibrant Sicilian city of Catania.

Sicily is one of my favourite regions of Italy to photograph purely because it is so rich visually and very theatrical.

I found the contrasts of the city quite striking – taking in the sights, smells and banter of the early morning Mercato del Pesce or Fish Market, through to the glitz and glam of the evening’s performance at the exquisite Teatro Massimo Vincenzo Bellini.
